Dragonfly beads, ‘tonbodama’ (蜻蛉玉), are glass beads with holes. Globally, they are known as glass beads. It is known that this name has been used since around the mid-Edo period. They were used for accessories, netsuke, obijime, hair ornaments, obidome, and more. Their value and usage also differ depending on the era and country.
