Mt. Omuro

Mt. Omuro

The bowl-shaped **Mt. Omuro** is one of the area’s most distinctive landmarks. To reach the summit, visitors can take a pleasant and comfortable chairlift ride, enjoying a refreshing aerial journey.

A one-kilometer walking trail encircles the volcanic crater, offering panoramic views of Mt. Fuji, the Izu Seven Islands, and Sagami Bay.

On clear days, this is a particularly popular spot for taking commemorative photos with Mt. Fuji as the backdrop!

Inside the crater sits the **Omuroyama Sengen Shrine**, dedicated to deities that bless safe childbirth and good relationships. There are also facilities where visitors can try their hand at archery.

Every year on the second Sunday of February, the traditional event known as **Yamayaki** (“Mountain Burning”) is held, in which the entire mountain is set ablaze — an awe-inspiring sight that draws many tourists.
