Yawatano Port
Yawatano Port is renowned as a diving spot, but among rock fishing enthusiasts, it is famous as the birthplace of rock fishing in Eastern Japan. This area is a ria coast, and along the approximately two-kilometer coastline from Jogasaki, there are over 50 large and small rock fishing spots, each being an excellent fishing ground. Yawatano Port is the mecca for rock fishing, considered its central point. The area offshore of the breakwater extending from the right side facing the open sea is a prime spot. Fishing here is done from atop the wave-dissipating blocks, where you can target Girella and Black Sea Bream. In summer, you can enjoy sabiki fishing for small horse mackerel all along the inside of the breakwater, and bigfin reef squid targeted by night fishing are also highly popular, especially among locals. In autumn and winter, you can also target Japanese bluefish by night fishing.
